how do dressage riders teach thier horse to?
long trot like have really long smooth strides and short bounch slow ones. i have a quarter horse and i ride western but i love to listen to music when i ride and try to do moves with my horse to go with the beat =) i admire dressage riders its so beautiful and i have taught my horse to trot while sidepassing and were working on the spinning.
if you dressage riders could give me some hints on some moves and how to teach them i would be really gratefull
Horses aren't taught how to do things. They do things by responding to pressure or force applied by the rider. For example, when the rider pulls on the left rein, the horse turns his or her head to the left simply to relieve the pressure from the rein. This holds true for the simplest and most complicated things. So to make a horse have a long, smooth trot or an extended trot, you push the hands forward giving them their mouth, then post bigger, this will make their trot longer by allowing them to move faster and more forward. The short trot is called a collected trot. You achieve a collected trot by shortening the reins and separating your hands a bit. This causes the horse to bring their head into their chest a little bit and makes them curl their neck slightly which causes them to take shorter steps. I do hunter jumper. And I like you admire dressage riders. They make a horse move in ways so beautiful. They look like they're dancing. Like ballet on horseback, And no doubt it takes talent. I hope I helped. Have fun riding! : D
