what kind of bit to start this horse out in?
The horse is a nine year old quarter horse mare that has only been ridden a handful of times in the last year or two. Before that I don't know much about how much training she had as my friend bought her at an auction, and is now giving her to me. I know she had some training because she can side pass and what not. She has some bad habits, walking away when you try to get on, and jogging or trotting when you want her to walk. I know training wise how to fix these issues just not sure which bit to start her with? The only one I own is a ladybug hackamore, but I have access to borrow just about any kind of bit. I know she was been ridden in a hackamore before and she is pretty responsive according to my freind (I haven't been on her yet). Any suggestions?
I would start out on just a simple snaffle bit. It's easy on the mouth, and a great beginner bit for your horse.
